Lynn Gladden

Lynn Faith Gladden (born July 30, 1961 ) is an English chemist.

Gladden received her bachelor's degree in physical chemistry from the University of Bristol in 1982 and received her PhD from Cambridge University in 1987 . She is Shell Professor of Chemical Engineering at Cambridge and Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Research. She is a senior scientist at the University's NMR Center (MRRC). In 1999 she became a Fellow of Trinity College.

She uses nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy in technical chemistry (e.g. catalysis, oil drilling, pharmacy), including imaging processes (MRI). She is also investigating the application of terahertz spectroscopy in pharmacy.

In 1987 she received the Beilby Medal and in 2000 the Tilden Silver Medal of the Royal Society of Chemistry . In 1995 she was Miller Visiting Professor at the University of California, Berkeley . In 2014 she gave the Bakerian Lecture .

She is Commander of the British Empire (2009), Fellow of the Royal Society (2004) and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Royal Society of Chemistry. In 2010 she was elected a member of the Academia Europaea .
