Lynn Kanuka-Williams

Lynn Kanuka-Williams (born Kanuka ; born July 11, 1960 in Regina ) is a former Canadian middle and long distance runner .

Career

She celebrated her greatest sporting success by winning the bronze medal in the 3000 meter run at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. She reached the finish in 8: 42.14 min behind Maricica Puică (8: 35.96 min) and Wendy Sly (8: 39.47 min). This race was remembered by the audience mainly because of the fall of the favored American Mary Decker after a collision with Zola Budd .

In 1986 Williams won the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh in the 3000 meter run. At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, she reached eighth place over 3000 m and fifth place in the 1500-meter run . In addition, she was five times Canadian champion, four times in the 3000-meter run (1983, 1984, 1986, 1987) and once in the 1500-meter run (1988). In road running she was successful as a three-time winner of the Vancouver Sun Run (1987-1989).

Lynn Williams is 1.53 m tall and weighed 48 kg at competition times. She was married to former long-distance runner and Olympian Paul Williams .
