The MÉV 3–8 were passenger train - tender - steam locomotives of the Hungarian Northern Railway (Magyar Északi Vasút, MÉV).

MÉV ordered its six passenger locomotives in Austria from Sigl in Vienna and Wiener Neustadt . The technical structure with external frame and external Stephenson control corresponded to the knowledge of the time. The smoke trap was later replaced. Instead of the glasses that were used to protect the staff, a real driver's cab was installed. In addition, the machines received the typical Hungarian, long smoke chamber .

When the MÉV was nationalized in 1868 , the vehicles came to the Hungarian State Railways (MÁV), which initially assigned them the numbers 3–8, and in the second scheme category IIa with the numbers 1101–1106. In the third scheme valid from 1911, the remaining locomotives were then designated as 236,001–005.
