The MÁV IIq series consisted of locomotives with a tender that the MÁV took over from the Staats-Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft (StEG) in 1891 . At the StEG they had the road numbers 219-233 at that time. The machines originally came from the Imperial and Royal Northern State Railways , where they belonged to two different series:
