Mario Santos

Mário Santos (born June 3, 1903 in Salvador da Bahia , † 1990 ) was a Brazilian journalist , engineer in the Ministry of Aviation, poet and diplomat .

Life

Mário Santos was the son of Maria do Nascimento Reis Santos and Affonso José dos Santos (born December 16, 1857 in Salvador da Bahia). He married Cátharina Anna Le Gall, their children are Marina, Mário Augusto Santos and Affonso José Santos .

On April 26, 1934 he was sent to the consular attaché at the consulate general in Buenos Aires. From 1937 to 1941 he had exequatur as consul in San Francisco , where he was in charge of the Brazilian pavilion at the Golden Gate International Exposition on Treasure Island (California) in 1939 . He was then transferred to Sydney as consul . The Santos family was traveling on the SS Mariposa from San Francisco to Sydney when £ 5,000 jewelry was stolen from the cabin before a stop in Los Angeles .

From May 29, 1946 he received an appointment as Consul General in Wellington and was then from June 2, 1948 to December 31, 1948 and from January 30, 1949 to December 19, 1949 Brazilian Chargé d'Affaires in Canberra . On May 6, 1952 he was appointed Envoy Extraordinary and Ministre plénipotentiaire in Damascus , where he was accredited with residence in Beirut from July 3, 1952 to October 31, 1957.
