The girls' choir at Cologne Cathedral is the second oldest of the four cathedral choirs at Cologne Cathedral . It was founded in 1989 by cathedral music director Eberhard Metternich and is currently directed by cathedral cantor Oliver Sperling. Like the Cologne Cathedral Choir (boys' choir), it is not a boarding school choir; the girls come to rehearsals three times a week in the Kardinal-Höffner-Haus choir center in Cologne-Lindenthal .

After a musical training (musical pre-school, pre-choir) and a targeted one-year choir preparation (B-choir: 3rd / 4th grade), three (A-choir: 4th-8th grade) or two (Chamber choir: from 8th grade) regular weekly choir rehearsals the basis for the development of the specific sound and literature spectrum for girls' voices. In addition to the musical and religious content of the choir life in the Kardinal-Höffner-Haus, the choir center of Cologne Cathedral, afternoon choir support in the daily routine of the young singers offers a concentrated atmosphere for completing their homework as well as opportunities to play and create together in rhythm with choir rehearsals, voice training and instrumental lessons.

The church services and concerts in Cologne Cathedral are the center of communal singing for the choir. The young singers are also guests outside of Cologne Cathedral, whether in the neighboring Cologne Philharmonic or in the Cologne Opera , in churches, museums or concert halls.
Sacred choral music of our time by composers from different cultures defines the majority of choral literature, primarily a cappella choral works. Otherwise, the Renaissance and Romanticism are among the focus of the epochs. In the accompanied choral music, the organ, occasionally the piano, very much the harp, but also string and wind ensembles up to the full orchestra are the instrumental partners, in Cologne often the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne or the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne .
The choir can show success in competitions with second prizes each at the German Choir Competition in 1998, 2002 and 2010 as well as at the International Christmas Carol Contest 2002 in Turku, Finland. Tours
In addition to its travel activities throughout Germany, the choir has so far made trips abroad to Israel, Finland, England, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Austria, Italy, Poland, Argentina, China and South Africa (2019).
As a member of the International as well as the German Choir Association Pueri Cantores , the choir has from October 1st to 5th, 2008 at the 5th German Choir Festival Pueri Cantores in Münster , on July 3rd, 2009 at the 35th International Choir Meeting Pueri Cantores in Stockholm (Sweden), as well as participated in the German Pueri Cantores from July 1st to 5th, 2015 in Trier.
