history

The historical origin of the bank lies in the Boele district of Hagen . The Boele savings and loan association was founded here in 1897. Through several mergers with other cooperative credit institutions - the largest merger took place with Volksbank Menden in 2001 - the Märkische Bank is in Hagen, Gevelsberg , Herdecke , Breckerfeld , Nachrodt-Wiblingwerde , Iserlohn , Hemer , Menden (Sauerland) and Ennepetal with 28 branches (including 13 self-service offices).

Business model

The organs of the Märkische Bank eG are the management board , the supervisory board and the representative assembly . All 26,758 members (as of December 31, 2018) have the opportunity to elect their representatives at regular intervals.

The bank supports social, cultural and sporting projects in the region. The Märkische Bank Foundation, among others, is involved here, initiating events and exhibitions with well-known artists and speakers.
