The Märkisch fescue reed ( Scolochloa marchica ) is a species of the sweet grass family .

features

The Märkischer Schwingelschilf grows one to two meters high. The top of the leaves is only slightly rough. The glumes are about the same length and tower above the lemmas. The lemmas are densely short-haired. At the base there are tufts of hair up to two millimeters long, at the tip the lemmas are unevenly serrated.

The flowering time is in June and July.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 42.

Occurrence

The habitat of Scolochloa marchica is the reed bed in stagnant or slowly flowing water. The species is rarely found in Germany in Brandenburg near Wentow and Potsdam, whether it can still be found in Berlin is unknown. The total range is unknown, it is possibly endemic at the previously known locations . So far the species is only known from Germany and Poland.
