Hildemar Scholz

Hildemar Wolfgang Scholz (born May 27, 1928 in Berlin ; † June 5, 2012 there ) was a German botanist . Its official botanical author's abbreviation is " H.Scholz "

Life

Hildemar Scholz began studying biology at the Free University of Berlin in 1949 . In 1956, he was here with a dissertation on The ruderal Berlin doctorate . From 1959 he was an assistant at the Institute for Systematic Botany at the Free University and in 1964 took up work at the Botanical Garden and Botanical Museum Berlin-Dahlem . In 1972 he completed his habilitation and was appointed adjunct professor in 1976. From 1983 until his retirement in 1993 he was full professor and director of the research department of the Botanical Garden.

From 1984 to 1987 Scholz was chairman of the Botanical Association of Berlin , of which he was a member for 60 years, most recently as an honorary member.

His main research interests were European and African grasses and - together with his wife Ilse - rust and smut fungi . In these areas in particular, he presented more than 300 scientific publications.

Scholz died as a result of an accident. He found his final resting place in the park cemetery in Berlin-Lichterfelde .
