Urdolmen from Mørkhøjgaard

The Urdolmen Mørkhøjgaard , also called Mørkhøjgård or Gladsaxe Dyssekammer, is located in Gladsaxe in the Hovedstaden region on the island of Zealand in Denmark .

It is a typical example of an early rectangular primal dolmen made of four massive stones that end with narrow edges and form a 1.5 meter long and 0.5 meter wide chamber. The capstone is missing as well as the covering hill.

The west-east-oriented Urdolmen , built from four large blocks with smooth sides on the inside, is a megalithic complex of the funnel cup culture (TBK) from the Middle Neolithic (3500-3000 BC) and a good example of a chamber of this type. However, the approximately 1.5 m long and 0.5 m wide chamber, the capstone of which is missing, is now on a lawn on the edge of a garden colony, but should be sunk into the ground.

Nearby is the snail hill ( Danish sneglehøj ) of Gladsaxe.
