Mosquito cicadas (Tropiduchidae) are a group of cicadas comprising more than 380 species worldwide, within which they belong to the Fulgoromorpha . Its main area of distribution is in the tropics and subtropics . There are currently two subfamilies: Elicinae and Tropiduchinae. In Europe there are only representatives of the Tropiduchinae with two genera with 3 species: Ommatissus binotatus , six-point mosquito cicada ( Trypetimorpha occidentalis ) and four-point mosquito cicada ( Trypetimorpha fenestrata ), the latter two species also occur in parts of Central Europe.
