former on-board mill

The Mühlwoog is an old reservoir of the Leinbach in the Palatinate Forest ( Rhineland-Palatinate ).

geography

The no longer intact dam of the reservoir between the local communities Frankenstein and Weidenthal is about 150 meters before the confluence of the Leinbach in the Hochspeyerbach at about 230 meters above sea level.

history

Below the Mühlwoog there used to be a so-called on- board mill , which made wooden boards from tree trunks and for which the Woog was primarily created as a water reservoir. Sometimes its filling was also released in whole or in part, to the water supply of Leinbachs below the mill at the drift to increase temporarily from logs.

properties

At 483 meters, the Mühlwoog is the longest of the six woogens in the Leinbach; its original capacity is likely to have been just under 7000 m³. Today it is heavily silted up.
