Mülheim Children's Pieces Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mülheimer KinderStückePreis ( original spelling ) is a playwright's prize awarded since 2010 for new German-language children's theater pieces. The independent competition with its own jury and a large specialist audience takes place annually on five days in May as part of the Mülheimer Theatertage NRW .

Structures

The five most outstanding new German-language children's theater pieces of the current season are nominated by a three-person selection committee. These productions are usually invited to the competition in the premiere staging as guest performances. The jury consisting of three experts will determine the prize-winning piece in public discussion, which will bring the chosen author 10,000 euros in prize money.

In addition, there has been a youth jury for the Mülheimer Theatertage since 2015, made up of five to ten young people between the ages of 12 and 17. After viewing all five pieces, this age group jury determines the audience award for the Mülheim “KinderStücke”. Although it is undoped, it still receives attention in the specialist scene.
