Carsten Brandau

Carsten Brandau (born April 22, 1970 in Hamburg ) is a German theater and radio play author .

Life

Brandau studied German, history and philosophy in Trier, London and Heidelberg. From 1998 to 2003 he worked as an assistant director. He also worked at the Stadttheater Heidelberg , the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus and the Dortmunder Schauspiel . During this time his first theater productions took place. Brandau has been writing theater and radio play texts since 2003, which are represented by the Münchner Drei Masken Verlag. He has been awarded several theater and radio play prizes. In 2012 he realized the participatory district performance “Altona macht auf! Sehnsuchtsfenster & Balkontheater ”in Hamburg-Altona, which has taken place annually since then, was nominated for the BKM Prize for Cultural Education in 2015 and won the Hamburg District Culture Prize in 2017 .

  • 2008: 1st prize in the “Best Author” category at the Leipzig Radio Play Summer;
  • 2008: 1st prize in the "hoer.spiel" competition at St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences
  • 2009: 1st prize in the “Best Director” category at the Leipzig Radio Play Summer; 2nd place Berlin radio play festival
  • 2010: Autorentheatertage at the Deutsches Theater Berlin
  • 2012: Scholarship for the German Children's Theater Prize; Author's Theater Days at the Deutsches Theater Berlin
  • 2013: Dutch-German child and youth playwright “Kaas & Kappes” award
  • 2014: Nomination for the German Children's Theater Prize
  • 2015: Mülheimer KinderStückePrize for three is upside down
  • 2016: Mülheim Children's Pieces Prize for Heaven and Hands
  • 2017: Brothers Grimm Prize of the State of Berlin (pro rata) for Says the whale to the tuna
  • 2018: Nomination for the authors' award of the Heidelberger Stückemarkt
  • 2020: Nah-dran scholarship (KJTZ / German Literature Fund)
