Kristo Šagor

Kristo Šagor (born March 16, 1976 in Stadtoldendorf , Lower Saxony ) is a German playwright and director . He has received numerous prizes and his plays Dreier ohne Simone , FSK 16 and Trüffelschweine are now among the most popular in German-speaking countries.

Career

Kristo Šagor grew up in Lübeck-Buntekuh . After graduating from the Ernestine School and doing community service at the Elderly Aid Center in Travetal, he moved to Berlin in 1996 to study modern German literature , theater studies and linguistics at the Free University of Berlin . From 1996 to 1999 he worked at the student theater TREKJOP , for which his play Dreier ohne Simone was created.

There Kristo Šagor staged the play himself in 1999 and played one of the three boys: Sven, Andreas and Kai are waiting for their interrogation in their school in the anteroom of the director, as all three of them are suspected, their classmate Simone raped on the school trip that has just ended to have. A guerrilla war develops on the basis of insinuations, jealousy and desire. With Dreier without Simone , Kristo Šagor found his publisher, Kiepenheuer Bühnenvertriebs-GmbH, Berlin. The play was re-enacted in numerous professional children's and youth theaters , including abroad.

In 1999 Kristo Šagor studied drama for one year at Trinity College in Dublin (Ireland). He represented Germany at the European Festival of Young Dramatists ( Interplay Europe ) in Warsaw in 2000 and at the World Festival of Young Playwrights - World Interplay 2001 in Townsville ( Australia ). He made his final breakthrough as an author in 2000 with Durstige Vögel at the Schauspielhaus Bochum .

In 2002 he made his debut as a director staging the same play at the Volkstheater in Munich . From 2002 to 2004 he was a resident author at the Bremen Theater . This was followed by directorial work at numerous theaters in Germany, including the world premieres of Heldenhaft by Katharina Schlender in the Markgrafentheater in Erlangen (2004), of Sommer mit Mädchen by Kai Hensel in Braunschweig (2004) and the dream couple by Zoran Drvenkar at the Theater an der Parkaue in Berlin (2006). In the 2008/2009 season, Kristo Šagor was artistic director of the underground theater at the Schauspielhaus Bochum . From October 2008 to the end of February 2009 he lived on the stage of the underground theater and realized the project "New home. Living underground" there.

Awards

In 2001 Kristo Šagor received the audience award of the Heidelberger Stückemarkt and the Halle Dramatist Award for his play Unbeleckt as well as the sponsorship of the Friedrich Schiller Memorial Award of the state of Baden-Württemberg . In 2002 his play Federn Lassen was awarded the authors' award of the state stage group of the German stage association , and in the same year his play Fremdeln was nominated for the German Youth Theater Prize. In 2003 he received the 2nd author award at the 5th Dutch-German children's and youth theater festival Kaas & Kappes in Duisburg and in 2005 the first author award for his piece of truffle pigs in the same place . His play Patricks Trick was awarded the Berlin Children's Theater Prize in 2013 and the Baden-Württemberg Youth Theater Prize in 2014. In the same year, the play was also nominated for the German Children's Theater Prize. In the annual review of 2016, the theater critics of Berlin's ZITTY chose their favorite productions: 2:14 p.m. by David Paquet, directed by Kristo Šagor, came in second.

For his piece I love you , Šagor was awarded the Mülheim Children's Piece Prize and the associated prize of the youth jury in 2019 .
