Marc Reisner

Marc Reisner (* 1971 in Mannheim ) is a German video artist and director . One focus of his creative work is on intermedia projects that combine theater and film.

education

Marc Reisner studied electrical engineering, education and economics. He did his doctorate on visual media in theater. During his studies he worked as a freelance designer and also gained his first experience in television and film production.

Works for film and theater

From 1999 to 2012 Marc Reisner was responsible for media production on stage at the Nationaltheater Mannheim . There he was involved in various productions that integrate modern visual media into the theater production.

Mark Ravenhill's Razor-sharp Polaroids (director: Marlon Metzen, 2001) played in a real-time bluebox with real-time 3D backgrounds.

For “FSK 16” (text and direction: Kristo Šagor , 2004) Marc Reisner produced so-called language islands on S16mm , which interrupt the actual plot and allow the protagonists to tell personal stories.

He worked with the Argentine director Alejandro Tantanian on two filmically complex productions: “Amerika” (2009) and “Nie war der Schatten” (2012). In both cases, the aim was to integrate the film aesthetics of the early cinema years into the action on the stage.

For the German-language premiere of Free Sight by Marius von Mayenburg (director: Burkhard C. Kosminski, 2009) he produced a first-person shooter as a video feed.

A detailed description of the technical procedure was given in the trade journal Bühnentechnische Rundschau , Issue 1/10, pp. 88-89 under the title free shot. A first-person shooter for the theater production "Free Sight" published.

For the first two parts of the new Mannheimer Ring, Marc Reisner produced the video feeds together with its director Achim Freyer .

In addition, Marc Reisner was repeatedly involved in projects for other theaters, including a. Bayreuth Festival , Grand Théâtre de la Ville Luxembourg. In 2005 he produced the intermedia project tell together with Deluxe Productions ( The Girl with the Pearl Earring , The Merchant of Venice ) . Theater and cinema have been combined here in a unique way. The actors acted in front of a projection surface on which a large part of the evening was told in the form of film feeds. The films were shot on S16mm in five federal states and Luxembourg . The world premiere of tell took place in April 2005 at the Atlantis Kino in Mannheim.

In 2007 Marc Reisner wrote a stage version of Frankenstein for the Oldenburg State Theater together with the author and director Kristo Šagor . In this production he also took over the direction of the film parts.

Marc Reisner has designed and implemented media productions for over 100 theater evenings / performances in Germany and abroad.

Teaching activities

Marc Reisner teaches film and theater practice and theory at various colleges and universities. He also taught media education at the F + U school in Heidelberg. He also worked for the Academy for Performing Arts in Baden-Württemberg .

As a speaker he gave numerous lectures, especially on the topic, film and space.

Meanwhile, his focus is on film communication with regard to CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), as well as innovation and startup culture.

In 2014 he held a substitute professorship in the field of media and cultural analysis at the Mannheim University of Applied Sciences . From the 2015/16 winter semester, he has been a substitute professor at the Rhein / Main University of Applied Sciences in the field of: Methods, media and social management in social work.

Flimmermenschen - Academy for Film and Everyday Life and Design Center Rhein Neckar

From 2013 to 2016 Marc Reisner headed "Flimmermenschen - Academy for Film and Everyday Life", a film school in Mannheim for young people who were still in vocational orientation or training. Flimmermenschen closed the gap between ambitious media educational projects and film schools. Marc Reisner has been chairman of the Design Center Rhein Neckars since 2016. The non-profit association deals with changing society through design. Every two years the design center organizes the international design festival "UNCOVER MANNHEIM". In 2016 Stefan Sagmeister was a keynote speaker in Mannheim.

The look of sound

Marc Reisner was together with Katrin Rabus curator and festival director of "The Look of Sound" from 2016 to 2018. The international conference provides music film directors with a platform for networking and exchanging experiences. The event has been taking place at the Popakademie Mannheim since 2016. Guests have so far been Hannes Rossacher , Wolfgang Bergmann and Joris , among others .

Others

Since 2007 Marc Reisner has been a partner in the Mannheim recording studio Formstreng , which produces software-based new and popular music for Kurt von SuSo and the duo Lilienweiss , among others . Since 2017 he has been responsible for the innovation management of one of the largest Chinese branding agencies. His focus is on the development of German-Chinese cooperation and products. In 2019 he was invited to China to give a lecture on western design / cinema / theater.
