Munich Ratsch-Kathl
The Munich Ratsch-Kathl was a weekly newspaper published in Munich from 1889 to 1921 , which referred to itself as an "entertainment paper for comfortable traffic". At this point in time, Ratschkathl had generally established itself as a term for a talkative, chatty woman, with whom the newspaper compares itself to readers in the self-presentation on the front page of the first edition of May 11, 1889.
The price for the first issue was 10 Pfennig , was published by D. Mämert at Platzl 5 and moved to Westermühlstrasse 4 . From the third issue onwards, one issue only cost 5 pfennigs. As early as the beginning of 1890, a print run of 5,000 was reached. Originally, the newspaper only appeared on Saturdays, but soon also on Wednesdays due to its popularity. 1907 the name in the Munich city gazette and 'Ratsch-Kathl'expanded. In 1914, the title was reduced to Münchener Stadtanzeiger (not to be confused with the Münchner Stadtanzeiger , which was first published in 1945 and was published by Süddeutscher Verlag in 1950 and in the daily quarter pages of Süddeutsche Zeitung in 1997). The Münchener Wochenanzeiger was last published in 1921.
In terms of content, the newspaper focused on local news, supplemented by stories, serial novels, puzzles, jokes and advertisements. Some copies are now in the Bavarian State Library .
