The Munster guinea pig ( Galea monasteriensis ) belongs to the subfamily of the actual guinea pigs from the guinea pig family . The species was only recognized as such in 2004 at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster .
Appearance
The Munster guinea pig is about 22 cm long, weighs about 300 grams and has a gray-brown fur.

The Munster guinea pig lives in Bolivia in the province of Cochabamba .
behavior
The Munster guinea pig differs from other guinea pigs mainly in its monogamous way of life . It shows itself to be quite aggressive towards foreign conspecifics. The fathers play with their cubs instead of reacting aggressively to them.
