The Mürzaler Verkehrs-GmbH (MVG) based in Kapfenberg is one of the largest transport companies in Styria . MVG is the most important bus operator in the area of Mariazell , Kapfenberg, Bruck an der Mur and Leoben . Around 200,000 people live in their catchment area.

history

MVG was founded on April 23, 1943 with financial support from Böhler . From October 20, 1944 to February 15, 2002, it operated the Kapfenberg trolleybus , and has been a pure bus company ever since.

In 2002 the MVG acquired the Obersteirische Kraftwagen-Verkehrs-Gesellschaft (OKVG) and in 2005 the Postbus routes that ran around Mariazell were taken over by the ÖBB-Postbus GmbH and now run as MVG-Regional-Busbetrieb GmbH. The newest subsidiary of MVG is the company MVG Spanner Reisen GmbH, which was founded on January 1st, 2007.

On December 14, 2015, MVG took over lines 185 and 186 in the municipality of Sankt Barbara in Mürz Valley from the Graz bus company Watzke GmbH & Co KG.
