The M'Poko is a river in the Central African Republic .

geography

It has its source in the southwest of Ouham Prefecture . After flowing about 20 km in an easterly direction, it changes course and flows in a south - southeast direction over the prefectural border towards the state capital Bangui. About 60 km before its mouth, it then takes on its most important tributary, the Mbali, and then joins the Ubangi in the south of Bangui. He gives the prefecture of Ombella-Mpoko its name.

Hydrometry

The flow rate of the river was measured over 37 years (1957–94) in Bossele-Bali, at about half the catchment area. The mean annual flow rate observed in Bossele-Bali was 90 m³ / s during this period.

transport

The M'Poko is next to the Sangha and the Ubangi one of the 3 rivers that form the 2800 km long waterways of the Central African Republic. They are mainly used for the transport of logs, cotton and the exchange of food with neighboring countries.
