M. Shayne Bell

Michael Shayne Bell (* 19th February 1957 ) is an American science fiction - writers .

biography

In 1986, Bell made his debut with Jacob's Ladder in the Writers and Illustrators of the Future competition, in which he took first place for the second quarter of 1986. He has only published one novel, Nicoji , but has focused on shorter works. In 1995, Bell was nominated for a Hugo Award for best short story with Mrs. Lincoln's China . In 2002, The Pagodas of Ciboure was nominated for a Nebula Award for best short novel.

He received an Award for Outstanding Editorial Achievement from the Association for Mormon Letters for Washed by a Wave of Wind: Science Fiction from the Corridor , a collection of short stories by authors who live or have lived in Utah . His story, The Thing About Benny , published in 2000, was selected by Gardner Dozois for The Year's Best Science Fiction: Eighteenth Annual Collection , followed by Anomalous Structures Of My Dreams for The Year's Best Science Fiction: Twenty-First Annual Collection in 2004 .

Bell worked for Sunstone Magazine as a poetry editor for six years . He has a Masters degree in English from Brigham Young University and lives in Salt Lake City .
