The M2 Medium Tank was an American tank that was manufactured in small numbers by Rock Island Arsenal at the beginning of World War II .
The concept of this tank was based on the M2 Light Tank , a light tank. The M2 Medium Tank weighed 18.7 tons, was 5.38 meters long and relatively lightly armored for its weight class. It did not take part in fighting in World War II, as its insufficient armor and armament had no combat value when the "M2 medium tank" was approved for production in August 1940.
