The M7 line of the Istanbul Metro is a metro line under construction since February 2014 on the European side of the Turkish metropolis of Istanbul . The line is currently being built between the stations Şişli and Mahmutbey. It is also called the Kabataş-Mahmutbey Line, which indicates its future final stops. The tender for the construction of the underground line ended on September 18, 2013. The line identification color of the M7 is black.

Route

The planned route begins in Kabataş, where a connection to the T1 tram line will be established. It will run northwards via Besiktaş to Şişli station and cross line M2 at the subway station there.

The western section between Şişli and Mahmutbey has been under construction since the end of 2013. In Şişli, after completion, it will be possible to change to the M2 line as well as to the Metro bus, which connects Europe with Asia. From Şişli, the route will take its way west and north past the northern end of the Golden Horn . In Karadeniz it will cross the T4 light rail line running in the tunnel there. The western end of the M7 will be in Mahmutbey. There is already an underground station on the M3 line there , to which you can then change here.

Construction stages

The 24.5 km long underground connection will have 18 stations. Among them are three transfer stations to other rail rapid transit lines of the subway and light rail , one on the tram and the ferry, as well as one for Metrobüs . On their route, the trains will pass two viaducts and 16 tunnel sections.

meaning

The line represents an important connection between the districts north of the Golden Horn and these districts with the center; these quarters are so far only inadequate and are only connected to the high-speed rail system via lines M2 and T4 in north-south direction. In addition to the M1 A and M1 B lines in the south of the city, the M7 will be another west-east connection - this time opening up the northern part of the city.
