MTB-News is a web platform , online trade magazine , online community and virtual marketplace for mountain bikers . In addition to the main page, MTB-News operates the specialist portals Rennrad-News for racing bikes and eMTB-News especially for electric mountain bikes and is the largest European online portal for mountain bikes.

History & content

MTB-News was founded in 1999 by Thomas Paatz. As the number of members grew, the functions of the portal were also expanded; in 2004, the racing bike news platform was added especially for racing cyclists . In 2016, the offer was expanded to include electric mountain bike riders with the eMTB News portal .

Paatz now works with a team of 18 employees. They publish editorial articles and test reports on various topics related to mountain biking such as: B. Bikes, accessories or clothing. Races and travel guides are additional focuses. In addition to the photo and video albums and forums where users can discuss and exchange experience reports, there is the so-called bike market , a trading platform specially for new and used mountain bikes.

Every year, the World Bicycle Relief is supported by annual fundraising campaigns in December by MTB-News organizing prizes from the industry, which are raffled among the users who make a donation. In 2019, 146,500 euros were collected in this way. In addition, there are the annual User Awards , where users of the portal choose the most popular products and manufacturers in various categories.

The main portal MTB-News is accessed around 23,500,000 times a month with around 3,700,000 sessions by around 1,500,000 users and has 436,386+ registered users (as of 2020). Financing is provided through advertising from advertisers and commissions from commercial providers on the portal's bike marketplace .
