The group MTS is a Berlin band that has dedicated itself to cabaret songs. It has existed since 1973.

history

MTS was in on 8 November 1973 East Berlin by Detlef Bruno M Elzer, Herbert T reichel and Thomas S chmitt founded. Just one year later, she achieved the greatest success in her band's history with the bench ballad 10 nasty motorists , a parody of the children's song Ten Little Negroes . The trio, whose name is derived from the first letters of the surnames of the founding members, soon interpreted the band name ironically in courage, thirst for action and beauty or occasionally also masculine, spirited and cute .

MTS whose occupation is temporarily expanded to a quartet or quintet, sees itself as a cabaret song, whose repertoire of songs in the style of shocking ballads there. MTS had joint appearances and tours with Bettina Wegner , Werner Sellhorn , the Hansi Biebl Band , Karat , 4 PS and the Papa Binne's Jazz Band, among others . In 1986 the quartet produced the joint LP Erste Komische Interest Group from their collaboration with Possenspiel .

After the fall of the Wall , the band's concerts were less and less attended, so that their appearances became increasingly rare. When the new program for the 20th anniversary turned out to be successful, MTS went on tour again within East Germany under the new slogan "macabre, tactless but clean" since 1993. Since then, the band's sphere of activity has expanded beyond East Germany to the Bardentreffen in Nuremberg.

Due to an illness of the drummer Mike Schafmeier, the band performed as a duo Schmitt / Treichel from 2006 onwards. From the beginning of 2008 the trio was complete again and toured under the motto “macabre - tactless - clean”. Herbert Treichel died at the beginning of October 2011 after a long illness. In October 2011 Frank Sältemeyer returned to the band as a replacement for Treichel.

In early 2015, the group announced that Mike Schafmeier would leave the band at the end of March of the same year. Schmitt and Sultemeyer announced that they wanted to continue as a duo.
