The MULAG vehicle factory Heinz Wössner GmbH u. Co. KG is a German company that manufactures commercial vehicles. The company is based in Oppenau , with another location in Bad Peterstal-Griesbach . The company name (company) is the acronym for Motor Universal Loads Work Device . It is not identical to the former vehicle manufacturer Mannesmann-MULAG from Aachen, which was taken over by Büssing in 1928 .

history

The company was founded in 1953 as Huber & Wössner GbR in Bad Peterstal-Griesbach in the Black Forest . Agricultural vehicles were initially manufactured here; a short time later these were also exported to other European countries. A round company emblem with the letters HW, which stood for Josef Huber and Heinz Wössner, the founders of the company, was used as a trademark. From the late 1950s onwards, special vehicles for narrow driveways on vineyards, some of which can still be seen in use in Greece and elsewhere in southern Europe, became particularly well known from the late 1950s.

Since April 1, 1964, the company has operated as MULAG Fahrzeugwerk Heinz Wössner KG and changed the company logo to the MULAG name with blue capital letters, which is still in revised form today . Also in 1964, the airport apron vehicle product area was founded with the construction of baggage conveyor belt trucks for airports, later supplemented by apron tugs. In 1971, the second existing product area, street entertainment equipment, was created with the manufacture of self- supporting mowers as a Unimog body for the municipal sector.

In 1980 the Oppenau location was opened and the company headquarters relocated here a few years later. An extension in the year 2000 with modern office space, a large assembly hall and storage capacity supplemented the location later.

Today the company mainly produces airport apron vehicles such as B. airport tugs, conveyor belt trucks and container pallet transporters (which are exported worldwide), as well as street entertainment equipment such as embankment mowers as accessories for municipal carrier vehicles such as the Unimog or municipal tractor.

The company currently has 248 employees.
