Maarten van der Weijden

Maarten van der Weijden (born March 31, 1981 in Alkmaar ) is a Dutch long-distance swimmer .

Maarten van der Weijden won over 25 kilometers at the 2008 Open Water World Championships . At the Olympic Games in Beijing van der Weijden won the gold medal over 10 kilometers . He was also named Open Water Swimmer of the Year in 2008 .

On March 3, 2018, he set a new record in 24-hour swimming with 102.8 km. He swam in 4 days 21.-24. June 2019 the speed skating track Elfstedentocht : 195 km.
