Mable Fergerson

Mable Fergerson (born January 18, 1955 in Los Angeles ) is a former American athlete who mainly competed in the 400-meter run .

Fergerson won the Amateur Athletic Union Championships over 400 meters in 1971 , and in 1973 she won over 220 and 440 yards . At the age of 17 she took part in the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. As the starting runner, she led the US 4 x 400 meter relay around Madeline Manning , Cheryl Toussaint and Kathy Hammond with a time of 3: 25.15 minutes to the silver medal behind the world record relay of the GDR (3:22, 95 minutes). She also finished fifth in the 400-meter run.
