The MacGregor 26 is a trailerable sailboat from America. The boat designed by Roger MacGregor was built from 1986 to 2013 in several different variants over 5000 times.

The boat was built by the MacGregor Yacht Corporation in the United States .

After MacGregor stopped production, the design was adopted for the Tattoo 26, which continues to be built in Florida .

design

The MacGregor 26 is a small sailboat made of GRP . Depending on the model, the boat is equipped with a folding or a plug-in sword and therefore has a variable draft of just under 30 cm when the sword is drawn up and between 1.6 m and 1.9 meters otherwise. It has a fractional sloop rig . The rudder blade is attached to the stern. The latest model, the MacGregor 26M, even has a double rudder system. The boat is known as a motor sailer. Newer models can be equipped with - for this boat size - very powerful outboard motors and, with empty ballast tanks under the engine, can reach 19 knots , although the hull speed would only be 6.5 knots.

MacGregor 26D
The first model was built between 1986 and 1989. It is a total of 25.83 ft (7.87 m) long, displaces 2,850 lb (1,293 kg) and is equipped with ballast tanks for 1,200 lb (544 kg) of water for stability. The draft is 5.33 ft (1.62 m) with the plug-in sword down .

MacGregor 26S
The successor to the 26D was equipped with a folding sword . It was launched in 1990 and was built until 1995. The dimensions are very similar: it is 25.82 ft (7.87 m) long and weighs 2,850 lb (1,293 kg), also with 1,200 lb (544 kg) water ballast. The draft with the sword lowered is 6.33 ft (1.93 m).

MacGregor 26X
The 26X is the successor to the 26S. It's just as long, but only has a maximum draft of 5.50 ft (1.68 m). The 26X has a double rudder system.

MacGregor 26M
The 26M was built from 2002. She has a plug-in sword again and reaches 19 kn (35.2 km / h) under machine. It is 25.83 ft (7.87 m) long and displaces 2,550 lb (1,157 kg). In addition to the water ballast of 1,150 lb (522 kg), a fixed ballast portion of 300 lb (136 kg) is also installed for the first time. The maximum draft is now 5.75 ft (1.75 m).
