Bennet Hundt (born August 20, 1998 in Berlin ) is a German basketball player .

He is part of the Bundesliga club Brose Bamberg and is the younger brother of Jannes Hundt .

career

Hundt played in the youth of DBV Charlottenburg and TuS Lichterfelde and also gained his first experience in the men's division in the 2013/14 season in the 2nd regional league. During the 2014/15 season he attended Dalton High School in the US state of Georgia and was one of the top performers on the basketball school team. His father Oliver had already completed an exchange year at Dalton High School.

After returning home, Hundt joined Alba Berlin for the 2015/16 season . He played in youth, but also in the club's second men's team in the first regional league. Thanks to a “double license”, from the 2016/17 season onwards he also booked appearances for Alba's cooperation club SSV Lokomotive Bernau in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB .

On October 15, 2017, he made his debut in the basketball league in an Alba shirt under coach Aíto García Reneses , who is known as a youth sponsor . At the beginning of January 2018 he suffered a metatarsal fracture in his right foot. In the points round of the 2018/19 season, he led the Bernauer in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB in the statistical rating "basket assists per game" with 6.6 and also achieved the third highest internal team value with 14.6 points. In a vote by the 2nd Bundesliga following the 2018/19 season, Hundt was named ProB's “Youngster of the Year”.

In the summer break of 2019 he was signed by the Bundesliga club BG Göttingen . In 2020, after good performances at the “Veilchen” (27 Bundesliga games, 9.4 points / commitment), he moved from Göttingen to Brose Bamberg together with coach Johan Roijakkers .

National team

Hundt took part as a member of the German national youth teams in the U16 European Championship 2014, the U18 European Championship 2016 and the U19 World Championship 2017. At the beginning of June 2018 he was appointed to the U20 national team and won the bronze medal at the European Championships at home in Chemnitz the following month . Hundt achieved mean values ​​of four points and 3.1 basket assists per match during the tournament. In 2019 he was appointed to the A2 national team. At the beginning of February 2020, he was appointed to the German men's national team for the first time and in the same month was used as an international debutant in a European Championship qualifier against France.
