Machiel van Frankenhuijsen
Machiel van Frankenhuijsen , also cited as van Frankenhuysen, (born January 7, 1967 in Roermond ) is a Dutch mathematician who deals with number theory.
Frankenhuysen went to school in Nijmegen and studied at the Catholic University of Nijmegen from 1985 , where he graduated in 1990 ( About the Riemann Hypothesis ) and received his doctorate in 1995 at ACM van Rooij ( Hyperbolic Spaces and the abc conjecture ). He was an Erasmus Fellow at the University of Tübingen , in 1994 at Yale University with Serge Lang , in 1995 at the University of Rennes with Bas Edixhoven and from 1996 to 1998 as a Marie Curie Fellow at IHES with Alain Connes . He was also a visiting researcher at the University of California, Riverside , with Michel Lapidus , and was visiting assistant professor there from 1998 to 2000. In 2000 he was Visiting Professor at Rutgers University and from 2003 Assistant Professor at Utah Valley University , since 2009 as Associate Professor. He was also a visiting scholar at the Universities of Münster, Hanover and Göttingen.
Van Frankenhuysen dealt with the abc conjecture and its connection to the Mordell conjecture and the Thue-Siegel-Roth theorem , with the Riemann hypothesis , also in connection with Connes' attempt to prove, and with the theory of complex dimensions (poles of a associated "geometric zeta function") in fractal geometry.
