Mack McCormick
Robert "Mack" McCormick (born August 3, 1930 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania , † November 18, 2015 in Houston , Texas ) was an American folklore and music researcher.
In the 1950s and 1960s McCormick discovered blues musicians such as Mance Lipscomb , Lightnin 'Hopkins and Buster Pickens and was involved in their first recordings. At the same time, he brought already dead blues legends such as Robert Johnson and Henry Thomas back to life. McCormick has authored dozens of books, magazine articles, and vinyl records, and worked at the prestigious Smithsonian Institution . In the course of his more than 50 years of research, he also set up one of the most extensive private archives in Texas music history.
