Madalena is a village and former municipality ( Freguesia ) in the Portuguese district ( concelho ) Chaves . It has 1,575 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
As part of the territorial reform of September 29, 2013 , it was merged with the municipality of Samaiões to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Madalena e Samaiões . The seat of the new municipality is Madalena.
