The União das Freguesias de Madalena e Samaiões is a Portuguese municipality ( freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) Chaves in northern Portugal .

history

The municipality was created in the course of the regional reform on September 29, 2013 by merging the former municipalities of Madalena and Samaiões . A small part of the municipality of Samaiões north of the Tâmega was transferred to the municipality of Santa Maria Maior .

Madalena became the seat of the new administration.
