Madeleine Chapsal

Madeleine Chapsal (born September 1, 1925 in Paris ) is a French journalist and writer.

Life

Chapsal is the daughter of Marcelle Chaumont , a seamstress for haute couture of the fashion houses of Madeleine Vionnet . In 1945, at the age of twenty, Chapsal married the journalist Jean-Jacques Servan-Schreiber (JJSS). In May 1953, she founded the newspaper L'Express in collaboration with her husband and Françoise Giroud .

In 1960, Chapsal divorced her husband, but worked closely with him for a long time. Between 1981 and 2006 she was a member of the jury for the Prix ​​Femina .

Her literary works showed her to be an important representative of French feminism. Her documentaries and non-fiction books were often created in collaboration with Frédérique Rossif . In addition, over the years children's books and some theater plays were created. Her work French writers intimate (Envoyez la petite musique) is an important contemporary document, as she interviewed important French writers and philosophers for this book.
