Carole Bouquet (born August 18, 1957 in Neuilly-sur-Seine ) is a French actress . She became known in 1977 through Luis Buñuel's last film This Obscure Object of Desire and as Bond girl Melina Havelock in James Bond 007 - In Fatal Mission (1981).

Film career

Her first film, This Obscure Object of Desire (1977), which was also Luis Buñuel's last film , was an international success and attracted Bouquet's attention. After other French films, including The Murderer Meet at the Buffet (1979), Bouquet played the female lead of Melina Havelock in the James Bond film In a deadly mission in 1981 . Although she gained international fame through the film, she later regretted her participation in the film series, as it had harmed her career rather than helped. Although the role as a Bond girl did not give her a breakthrough in Hollywood , she managed a successful acting career in Europe . Her most successful films in the 1980s include Bingo Bongo (1982), The Conspiracy (1985), Jenatsch (1987) and Woody Allen's New York Stories (1989). After she was nominated for The Unveiling (1984), she was awarded the French César Film Prize in 1990 for her role in Too Beautiful for You in the Best Actress category.

In the 1980s and 1990s, Bouquet was Chanel's advertising face .

After other successful films such as Tango Mortale (1993), Love and Other Businesses (1994) and Wasabi - A Bull in Japan (2001), she appeared in a guest role in the last episode of the television series Sex and the City in 2004 . For the lead role in the film A Long Way to Happiness , she was awarded Best Actress at the Stockholm International Film Festival in 2005.

In 2014 she starred alongside Zoe Saldana in the role of Margaux Castevet in the miniseries Rosemary's Baby , a remake of the 1968 film of the same name . In 2017 she played a leading role in the French miniseries La Mante .

In 1999 Carole Bouquet was a jury member at the 4th Shanghai International Film Festival and in 2014 at the Cannes Film Festival .
