Madeleine Fischer, 1950s

Madeleine Fischer (born November 12, 1935 in Romanshorn ; † April 8, 2020 in Gubbio , Italy ) was a Swiss film actress in the 1950s, previously working as a photo model and later as an entrepreneur.

Live and act

Madeleine Fischer is the daughter of a Swiss industrialist and a teacher of German and Italian. She spent her childhood in Romanshorn, where she was born. While the father tried to familiarize her with the business world, the Italian mother wanted to bring her closer to art and literature. After the parents got divorced in the early 1950s, Madeleine decided to follow her mother to Rome . For a while she walked the catwalk for fashion houses. She was first brought in front of the camera in 1953, not yet 18 years old. Madeleine Fischer's breakthrough as a film actress came in 1955 with the role of the suicidal Rosetta Savoni in Michelangelo Antonioni's female ensemble film The Friends . Then Madeleine Fischer played leading roles in other Italian productions, none of which were of any artistic importance.

As early as 1958, the Roman-elect ended her work in front of the film camera and married a local. In the period that followed, Madeleine Fischer devoted herself to very different things: she worked briefly as a photographer and then became a businesswoman. In the 1960s, she opened fashion stores such as Piper Market and Piperino. After their divorce, Fischer expanded her business activities and lived temporarily in Milan and New York. At the side of her new husband, she discovered a new hobby, sailing, and went on a circumnavigation of the world. In the 1970s, Madeleine Fischer withdrew from the fashion business and settled in the nature of Umbria , where she lived until her death and was involved in various artistic areas (restoration of a monastery complex and events on the subject of restoration of ancient artifacts). In the new millennium, Madeleine Fischer returned to her artistic beginnings, wrote several (unpublished) script manuscripts and, in 2004, directed a film called Uròboro , a postmodern version of Little Red Riding Hood in the form of a comic opera, which was also not presented to the public .

Fischer died in Gubbio, Italy in April 2020 at the age of 84.
