Madison Avenue was an Australian dance project from Melbourne .

biography

DJ Andy Van from Melbourne, who had already been successful as a remixer for Tina Arena, among others , and was awarded an ARIA Award , met the singer and dancer Cheyne Coates in the late 1990s. Together they founded the Madison Avenue project .

With the song Don't Call Me Baby they had their breakthrough in Australia in 1999 and internationally the following year. After number 2 in Australia with triple platinum status, the song came to number 1 in the UK and New Zealand and topped the US dance charts. It could also be placed in many other countries. The second single Who the Hell Are You? was able to build on this, this time the song reached number 1 in Australia (platinum) and in the US dance charts and still number 10 in Great Britain.

With the album The Polyester Embassy and two other singles, the duo was only able to hold their own in the top ten in their home country, after which they were not successful and they separated again. Van Dorsselaer was successful with the band Vandalism in Australia in the mid-2000s .
