building

architecture

Georges Debrie built a building in the Art Nouveau style with a glass and iron roof dome as the crowning of the roof, which was destroyed in 1963. The building is four-story and has a pentagonal floor plan. The three main facades have an identical structure: The ground floor has large shop windows that are separated by barely decorated pillars. On the upper floors, however, rich decor unfolds here. There are large arched windows that extend over two floors. The third floor is an attic. The roof is covered with slate and interrupted by a series of oculi . The main entrances are crowned by curved gables adorned with garlands, the main entrance bears the inscription "Aux Dames de France". The restrained decor on the building is committed to historicism and art nouveau.

Architectural significance

The facades and the roof of the building were listed as a historical monument in 1999. The interior is largely modern.

In 2015 the building was placed next to the previously registered Cinéma Le Castillet in Perpignan under the label Patrimoine du XXe siècle .

today

The building is now operated as a gallery that is used by various retail outlets. The main tenant has been the Fnac retail chain since 2001 .
