The Resolution 804 of the UN Security Council is a resolution that the United Nations Security Council unanimously decided at its 3168th meeting, on 29 January 1993rd It reaffirmed resolutions 696 (1991), 747 (1992), 785 (1992) and 793 (1992) and expressed concern about the lack of implementation of the “ Acordos de Paz para Angola ” in Angola . It approved a recommendation of the Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali , the mandate of the United Nations Angola Verification Mission II of the United Nations (UNAVEM II) to extend for another three months until 30 April 1993rd

The resolution condemned violations of the Acordos de Paz para Angola peace agreement, including the resumption of hostilities during the 55-day war , UNITA's initial rejection of the election results , its withdrawal from the new Angolan armed forces and its forcible occupation of the provincial capitals and communities. She called on all parties to cease fire, return to negotiations and agree to the full implementation of the peace agreement. The Council also endorsed the efforts of Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali and the Special Representative for their continued efforts in this regard. It was the first time that a resolution on Angola criticized UNITA.

The resolution also examined the impact of Member States on the peace process. She urged the government of Angola to provide economic and technical assistance and to support the implementation of the peace agreements and to prevent any direct or indirect interference by military or paramilitary forces. The Security Council also condemned the violations of international humanitarian law , the arrest of foreign hostages and the attacks on UNAVEM II units, and called on the Angolan government to ensure their safety.

Resolution 804 concluded with the deployment of UNAVEM II units, especially in the capital Luanda , partly because of the demands of African nations for a stronger presence of the United Nations and with the request to the Secretary General to review the developments and the Council before the Report to April 30, 1993.
