Border between Iraq and Kuwait |
The Resolution 806 of the UN Security Council is a resolution that the United Nations Security Council unanimously decided at its meeting on 5 February 3171. 1993rd It reaffirmed resolutions 687 (1991), 689 (1991), 773 (1992) and a report by the United Nations Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali, and guaranteed the inviolability of the international border between Iraq and Kuwait in accordance with Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter which was made available after the invasion of Iraqi forces into the demilitarized zone in January 1993.
The resolution called on the Secretary General to plan to strengthen the United Nations Iraq – Kuwait Observation Mission (UNIKOM) and to implement a gradual deployment of personnel. Under this provision, UNIKOM would be converted into an armed force with a 908-strong Bengali infantry battalion, which would complement the observation group and at the same time be given the authority to prevent injuries in the demilitarized zone.
The Council concluded that the next review of developments relating to UNIKOM would take place in April 1993.
