MagicStar was a nationwide private radio program in Unterföhring (Bavaria) by MagicStar GmbH. The station began operations as a digital station via DAB + and could be received in the cities of Munich , Nuremberg , Augsburg and Ingolstadt . The program could be received across Europe via the Astra satellite and worldwide in various qualities via webstream. The shareholders were ProFMmedia GmbH & Co. KG (50%) and Satelli-LINE Infodienste GmbH (50%). The program operation ceased on May 1, 2014.

program

According to the BLM, the program consists of Adult Contemporary with titles from the 1970s to 1990s.

reception

The program could be received via satellite until January 15, 2014 and via DAB + until February 28, 2014.

The satellite reception channel was discontinued due to a lack of advertising customers, as, according to MagicStar, only very few advertising customers wanted to advertise via satellite on the Facebook page. However, the audience ratings were consistently high until the end of the broadcast.

The DAB + reception channel was also discontinued due to a lack of advertising customers, as DAB + (as of March 2014), unlike FM, is not yet very widespread. MagicStar therefore only broadcast in the large Bavarian cities of Augsburg, Munich and Nuremberg but not in rural areas. The receivers, unlike VHF, are also not very widespread yet, and the listener numbers, with a million potential listeners, are still far from that of VHF. According to the MagicStar Facebook page, broadcasting via this route would have remained a subsidy for a long time, which the MagicStar donors did not want to continue.

In March 2014, the program could only be received via the homepage and the apps for Android and IPhone until it was also discontinued in this last distribution channel at the end of April.
