The magnetite Bluff is a 1,710 m high rock cliff in the West Antarctic Queen Elizabeth Land . In the Forrestal Range of the Pensacola Mountains , it rises 3 km northeast of Mount Stephens on the west side of the Saratoga Table .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1979 at the suggestion of the US geologist Arthur B. Ford . It is named after the large occurrence of magnetite in the gabbro rock of this region, which causes large magnetic anomalies in the Forrestal Range.
