history

The first Magnifest took place in 1974 on the Magnikirchplatz and the Ölschlägern and was planned as a community festival by the business people for the residents. The three-day event is one of the largest and oldest district festivals in Northern Germany.

activities

The Magnifest usually begins on the Friday of the first weekend in September with the opening speech of the incumbent mayor. As an open-air event, it offers a mixture of live music, cabaret and gastronomy. The appearances of professional cover and tribute bands who play the music of well-known artists are particularly numerous.

The Magnifest extends over the Magniviertel.
