Thank God Sigismund Donner

Gottlob Sigismund Donner , also Gottlob Siegmund Donner , (* 1753 in Marienberg ; † April 1, 1823 ) was a German Lutheran theologian .

Life

Born in early 1753, Donner studied at the University of Leipzig and received a master's degree in philosophy. He then went to Dresden as a private tutor .

In 1776 Donner received a position as a deacon in Marienberg. He became consistorial field staff preacher of the Saxon army the following year and two years later he became pastor of Döbeln .

In 1784 Donner was appointed pastor, cathedral preacher and superintendent in Meissen . Appointed doctor of theology in 1810, he died 13 years later at the age of 71.

Clemens Brockhaus highlights his dissertation from Donner's works . Sententiarum de miraculis Jesu Christi recensus ex patribus sex priorum saeculorum treat according to this "with a lot of diligence and thoroughness the striking points of the church fathers", "the whole work [leaves] however context, method and own judgment lacking".
