Magnus von Wedderkop (lawyer, 1830)

Magnus Cajus Friedrich Conrad von Wedderkop (* 1830 ; † 1907 ) was a senior magistrate and chamberlain in the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg .

Life

Magnus von Wedderkop was the son of the lawyer and writer Theodor von Wedderkop and a great-great-great-grandson of his namesake, the lawyer and politician Magnus von Wedderkop . He attended the High School Oldenburg until graduation Easter 1852 and then studied, first at the University of Heidelberg , Jura . During his studies he developed a lifelong friendship with the German diplomat Johannes Rösing . The two also studied together with Ernst von Meier , among others . Magnus von Wedderkop lived temporarily with him and his younger brother Fritz von Wedderkop, who was later a monastery propst in Schleswig , in a house in Göttingen .

After graduating, he first became a public prosecutor and then a judge at the Eutin District Court . He was honorary chairman of the arbitration tribunal of the professional association for the Principality of Lübeck . Wedderkop was actively involved in the cultural life of Eutin, chairman of the Eutin Literary Society and member of the Society of Hamburg Art Friends founded by Alfred Lichtwark . He wrote biographies of members of the family for the Allgemeine Deutsche Biographie .

On April 2, 1863, he married Elisabeth Post in Bremen, a great-granddaughter of the Bremen mayor Liborius Diederich Post .
