Hungarian Western Railway
The Hungarian Western Railway (UWB), Hungarian: Magyar Nyugati Vasút (MNyV) was a railway company in Hungary , whose routes were in western Hungary and Styria . The seat of the company was in Budapest .

The Hungarian Western Railway was licensed in both halves of the empire in 1869 and 1870.
The Austrian concession for the route from Graz to the Styrian-Hungarian border near Sankt Gotthard was awarded to the Hungarian general credit bank and the wholesale company MH Weikersheim & Comp. (Graz) on February 2, 1870. The concessionaires were obliged “ to begin the construction of the concessionary railway within three months, counting from the date of issue of the concession deed, to complete it within two years and six months, and to open the finished lines to the public To hand over traffic at the same time as the Hungarian connecting line ”. The substructure was initially only allowed to be designed for one track.
Only when a gross yield of 120,000 guilders ow. For every mile in two consecutive years, the Reich administration was allowed to demand the construction of a second track. The Austrian state also guaranteed a net income of five percent annually on the invested capital of 719,800 guilders per mile. The duration of the license was set at 90 years from the date on which the license was granted. After 30 years, the state reserved the right to redeem the licensed railway at any time.

As early as 1888, the governments of Hungary and Austria agreed to nationalize the Hungarian Western Railway. On January 1, 1889, the Hungarian part came to the Royal Hungarian State Railways MÁV , the Austrian part was taken over by the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB).
