The Stade Municipal de Mahamasima is a multi-purpose arena in the Malagasy capital Antananarivo . The stadium on Lac Anosy is used for football games , rugby union matches and athletics competitions. There is space for 22,000 spectators. Up to 40,000 visitors can be admitted to cultural events.
On March 7, 2005, two children were trampled to death when stewards wanted to close the crowded stadium, but several hundred people wanted to be admitted to the game between the Kaizer Chiefs and the Malagasy club USJF Ravinala.
In 2007 the seventh Indian Ocean Island Games were held at the Stade Municipal de Mahamasina .
