Mahbes (also El-Mahbas ) is a place in northern Western Sahara . Like much of the Western Sahara, Mahbes is also occupied by Morocco .

The place is on the edge of the Hammada du Draa at an altitude of 525 meters and belongs to the province of Es Semara . The Moroccan Wall runs south of Mahbes and is intended to prevent POLISARIO fighters from entering the area controlled by Morocco.

Mahbes gained international attention when, on November 7, 1975 , during the Western Sahara conflict, a march of the Morocco-organized Green March for the Occupation of Western Sahara approached Mahbes from the direction of Zag .

Mahbes' partner municipalities are the Spanish city ​​of Noia and the Italian municipality of San Giovanni Valdarno ( Tuscany ).
