Mahdids
The Mahdids , Arabic بني مهدي, DMG Banī Mahdī , were a dynasty in Yemen between 1159 and 1173 .
Its name goes back to its first ruler, Ali bin Mahdi . Ali bin Mahdi, in turn, traced his ancestry back to the Islamic kings of Himyar and proclaimed religious ideas in the Tihama . He tried to conquer the centers of al-Kadrā and Zabid one after the other , which failed. From then on he tried his goals by intrigue to achieve, he toward the Nadschahiden - viziers was concerned and ultimately to murder Surur al-Fātikīs led.
The sons consolidated the balance of power in the Tihama and made a superficial peace with the Zurayids , at the same time they raided southern provinces in order to plunder them . The Ayyubide Turan Shah , together with his allies, the Sulaymanids , stopped the military campaigns of the sons of Ali bin Mahdi. Abd al-Nabī and his brother Aḥmad were captured. Both were ultimately killed, ending the Mahdid era .
The Mahdids were the fourth dynasty after the Hamdanid sultans , the Zurayids and the Sulaymanids , which was ousted and erased epochal by the Ayyubids.
